With the rise of consumerism and healthcare challenges, having a healthier lifestyle appears to be harder than ever. However, with the access to today's technology and the ability to seek knowledge from any mobile device; there's no excuse not to try a healthier way of living. Let's have a look at some simple ways that we can improve our lifestyle.

Be conscious and aware of what should change for the better.

Instead of scrolling on Instagram all day or saving numerous Pinterest post you set a goal of losing that belly fat or toning those arms for summer. Being aware that your health is important and willing to learn what needs to change is initially the first step to results.

Create a plan of action.

Now that you are aware things can be improved having a plan creates a more natural journey to weight loss and an overall balance for a healthier lifestyle. With the proper research, establishing a routine, and creating lists, will set you up for an adequate vision.

Take baby steps. It changes everything.

No one lost weight in a week no matter how much flat tummy tea you drink. Letting go of sweets or sugar not only is the hardest thing in the world but seems impossible when you're first starting off. Try taking things slowly as you transition to good health. For example, if you enjoy drinking soda, slowly wing off this toxic drink by creating flavoured water with all of your favourite fruits. Select a day out of the week to have your pop and challenge yourself to drink more water before and after meals. Over time, your goal of not drinking soda becomes more obtainable.

Get out of your comfort zone.

Going to the gym in front of strangers or trying a new vegetarian dish knowing you could quickly go to your favourite fast food restaurant, shows disciple and your willingness to make a change. Create goals that will get you out of your comfort zone and try a healthier alternative to whatever habits you've created.

Exercise daily.

There shouldn’t be an excuse as to why you shouldn’t exercise. No matter who you are and what you do, exercise is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Your body can not prevent diseases and function in its full compacity if you do not exercise. Begin by walking outside for at least 10 minutes a day and gradually add to your daily routine with a bit of cardio. It will make a massive difference to your health.

Be consistent.

You've created a list of health goals, and you've managed to prep lunch and hit the gym three days a week. But your favourite television show aired with a new season, and you have got to watch it. So your friends invite you to a happy hour after work and a whole week has passed without you going to the gym or doing any form of exercise. Oops! Being consistent is important to see results, so telling the girls that you have to leave a little earlier for the gym. This exemplifies dedication and consistency.

Love yourself and love your progress.

“Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world," said Lucille Ball. When you begin to love your journey, and you start seeing the results, pat yourself on the back. You deserve it. Find a way to reward your hard work whether it's a trip to your favourite spa or a night out with the girls. Share your progress and enjoy the process!

Eat to live.

It’s entirely okay to have a cheat day or two, to slowly get out of the habit of eating unhealthy foods. And it's been said, that having one of your favourite meals once a week, will only motivate you, even more, to eat clean and take precaution when consuming them. Remember always to have well-balanced meals and snacks that will boost your energy and health. Never consume too many sweets and artificial foods that will take away from your body's natural function.

Remember, you're not alone.

It's not easy adjusting to an entirely new lifestyle than the one you've always known. Ask a friend, family member, co-worker to begin this new health journey with you and ask them to be your accountability partner. You will not only stay motivated, but you'll get the push you need to stay the course.

Ultimately, show gratitude in your journey.

When challenges present themselves, you have to start showing gratitude for the lesson that's given to you. Living a healthy lifestyle not only consist of the willpower to do better, but it's also showing that you are thankful for the opportunity to live another day to do and be better than you were before. So, learn to show more gratitude throughout this life journey, and you will have a healthier lifestyle.
